In the intensely contested arena of video games, it's typical for new contenders to vanish as swiftly as they explode onto the landscape.
However Battlefield 6 is striving to shift that dynamic.
It's the latest entry in a established combat FPS series often described as a more realistic answer to the CoD series.
This game has seldom succeeded to equal its most famous rival in terms of sales or players, but there are signs the new installment could narrow the difference.

"It's likely that we would not be able to make and develop the latest entry without the insights we acquired in the last release," the manager tells the press.
One of those lessons was to get fans participating from the start, and the developers started invite-only fan playtests in recent months.
Their "response was extremely positive," says the manager.
A further missing component from the previous installment was a solo experience, which has been restored in this version.
Criterion creative lead the design director is the one responsible for "guaranteeing those missions are as entertaining and interesting as possible for the players."
Despite claims that the size of the project had created pressure for the various studios partnering globally to create the project, he is upbeat about the work.
"Working with varied perspectives, distinct experiences, it's a truly engaging environment to be part of every day," he explains.
"The complete approach has been an innovation but also very exciting because we are collaborating with individuals from internationally."
As for the expectation on the crew, Fas says: "We experience pressure but also it's motivating.
"It's a big undertaking. It's probably the biggest that many of us have ever participated in."
Young Artist Contributes Fresh Perspective
That's definitely correct of at least a single team member, visual designer the artist.
This young professional makes the visual ambiance that shape the mood, tone, and focus of the single-player campaign.
Vlad completed an training period at the developer before securing a position at the company, and currently works on a part-time basis while finishing his digital arts qualification at his school.
He says he's a dedicated enthusiast of the Battlefield series, and recalls playing the previous game of the line at a pal's home when he was in his youth.
Being on it now, as his initial industry job, "doesn't feel real."
"It's very amazing seeing the marketing everywhere," he shares.
"To know that I have contributed my individual work into the project is really dreamlike."
