Ex- Physician Accused of Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients
Legal authorities report that a ex- physician has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
