Football Analyst Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Murs in Top Flight Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game winning streak came to an end by the Black Cats before the global hiatus, however can the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of special visitors.

In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is out on Friday.

Football and Family Life

Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a star of several charity football matches down the years - but he is not planning a professional return as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity game the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "The side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse his partner have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.

"I will not push football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their weekend football team," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a period too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our side for several years and had great fun with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this fixture will be fairly tight, however. Burnley are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

This suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

The singer's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their past two matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, the Hammers secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they do look strong again.

West Ham's sole away victory this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was previously Forest manager.

Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham continuing their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign began, but they have surprised a few people under their manager and are in good form with three in their last four matches.

A family member told me to select Brentford striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.

Thiago will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great fortune on the travel this term, and Brighton are consistently strong at home. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a danger.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

Olly's view: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive game for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six matches.

They have have lots of quality in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.

As for Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.

Their performance in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not seen any other team disrupt the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The logical choice to do to back the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the end of October.

But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I truly need to continue going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good results because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.

Considering Fulham's home form, the only team they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be extremely eager for a good result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I know the visitors are doing well and also that the hosts are on a poor streak... but they have nonetheless been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard fixture to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be one of the sides who profit from the {international break|
