Iran Claims Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is unclear and the United States has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
It said missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
