Around 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the state, producing strong winds reaching over 100 km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Broad Destruction
Locals witnessed substantial frozen pellets as large as seven centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across the state had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews deployed to manage the widespread outages.

Simultaneously, nearly 1,000 households in Victoria also experienced power outages after Melbourne experienced its most precipitation in a year and a half.
Rescue organizations received over five hundred requests for assistance across the state, primarily for property damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

Weather Forecast
Moist weather were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.
The following day was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with continued storm activity anticipated across various areas of both regions.

Medical authorities warned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, especially given the current weather patterns.
