The former personal attorney for Donald Trump has left her position as New Jersey's top federal prosecutor. This follows a judicial decision that questioned her eligibility to occupy the role.

US Attorney General, Pam Bondi, confirmed her stepping down on the start of the week. In a statement that the appeals court finding made it "untenable" for Habba to perform her duties.
"Do not interpret adherence to the ruling as defeat," Habba stated. "This battle will now reach across the nation."

Habba's exit was triggered by a federal appellate panel found that she had been serving in violation of the law as the top prosecutor. This judgment is expected to impact many legal proceedings in the state.
The judicial panel said that a interim role that bypassed confirmation by the US Senate violated the Federal Vacancies Reform Act.
