The 22-year-old tennis player Emma Raducanu ends this year's campaign and plans to retain coach into the 2026 season.

The British player made it to the third stage in three Grand Slam tournaments major tournaments in the current campaign.

Britain's Emma Raducanu will not compete in her remaining competitions of the year as a result of the illness she has been battling in recent days.

Raducanu, aged 22 had planned to participate in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to recover ahead of launching her preparations for 2026.

These plans will include trainer Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

The tennis professional had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match with Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

Another medical visit was necessary a visit from the doctor at this week's Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.

She was also playing far from freely in the third set in the match with Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has affected her during parts of the season.

Those results meant an encouraging season, in which the player advanced into the international top 30 after a long gap for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.

She held three match points before losing to American player Jessica Pegula in round three in the Beijing tournament last month.

She secured 28 victories during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her most impressive week was at the Miami Open in March.

Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed en route then falling in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey as coach between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role ahead of the US Open.

The initial agreement with the former trainer of Nadal was until the end of the season but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in in the coming months.

She mentioned that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She came very close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati in August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she advanced to round three then falling to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
