Trump Calls Loved Ones of Injured Military Members to the Presidential Residence

Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the presidential home.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Event

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have taken place in their remembrance.

White House Invitation

The president stated he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both members of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump addressed the press. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”

Public Support

Mourners assembled over the weekend at the high school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid public safety in the capital.

Honoring Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that instructors hoped for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, informed the Associated Press. “She was kind, considerate and always willing to assist people.”

Funeral plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Actions and Policy Adjustments

Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of murder and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The event caused the administration to pause refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to possessors of Afghan passports.

Condition of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey stated on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general informed a news show that she also intended to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Impact of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with honor, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had bravery,” the governor told the crowd at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
